I’ve got some pet projects pilling up, so I’ve decided to write about them. first one on the list is a pedestrian traffic light my friend found and wanted to do something cool with it.
his idea was just to make the light blink, but I wanted something more exciting and if possible, interactive.

כדי לחסוך בעלויות ולמנוע כריתת עצים ניסיתי לפני כמה שנים לקרוא ספרים דיגיטאלים באייפד, אבל זה לא היה זה. אז הפעם העלתי מהאוב מכשיר קינדל שהיה שייך לאשתי. אולי הטכנולוגיה של המסך e-ink תעשה את ההבדל
השבוע שוגרה לחלל החללית ״בראשית״. התגובות נעו בין ברכות נלהבות לטרוניות בסגנון ״איך יכול להיות שאנחנו שולחים חללית לירח אבל לא מצליחים להפעיל רכבת בין תל אביב לירושלים.״
היו גם תלונות על כך שב100 מליון דולר שעלה הפרויקט, אפשר היה לעשות הרבה דברים טובים, כמו לשפר את מערכת הבריאות הקורסת. כמובן שהפרויקט הוא יוזמה פרטית, ואם כבר, אז התרומה של המדינה היתה פחות ממינימלית כך שלא נגרע הרבה מהתקציב הממשלתי.
אבל בכל מקרה קשה להתעלם מהטיעון שבבסיסו הפער בין היכולת הטכנולוגית הגבוהה שיש בארץ, לבין מימושה בחיי היום יום כפי שחווה אותה האזרח הקטן.
כמהנדס למדתי שלא הכל אפשר או צריך לפתור בעזרת טכנולוגיה. לפעמים צריך לחפור עמוק לשורש הבעיה, להבין מאיפה היא נובעת ולבצע שם את התיקון, באופן שיקרין החוצה ויעלים את הליקויים
קטונתי מלהציע פתרונות לשיפור המצב בארץ. אבל בהחלט אפשר להצביע על כשל בהבנה מערכתית ובהוצאה של היכולות הגבוהות לפועל לטובת שיפור של התשתיות והשרות במדינה.

I’ve been playing around with MagicMirror², and ended up jotting down a few modules of my own.
first was MMM-DailyWeather – which is the missing link between the default CurrentWeather and WeatherForecast. it shows the upcoming weather for the next 24 hour in 6 hour intervals and helps the fashion aware people in the house better prepare their look to the temperature outside.

continuous blood glucose monitor are nothing short of a true wonder. for people with diabetic it is a enormous help in keeping their health. the continues knowledge of your blood sugar level is overwhelming even to those who’ve been constantly fighting the disease, and makes it easy to check trends and influences on your body.
Current devices takes a measurement every 15 minutes and store all that information. Then with a scan of the reader (or even your cellphone, if you’re willing to void warranty) it’s all downloaded and displayed.
Unfortunately, my wife got Type I diabetes, so she’s using the Freestyle Libre sensor. Each sensor works for 2 weeks and then disables itself, so it needs to be replaced.

הבעיה הגדולה שהם מחוברים לפעמים עם מסמרי ברזל גדולים שנתקעו עם רובה מסמרים והם תקועים עמוק. חוץ מזה שלפרק אותם עם פטיש זו התעמלות קשה
אז חיפשתי ביוטיוב איך להוציא את המסמרים בקלות, ולהפתעתי גיליתי שאני לא המוזר היחיד שעושה את זה. יש גם הרבה אנשים עם שיטות וכלים חשמלים לביצוע המשימה
ואז גיליתי את הסירטון הבא. מהמם בפשטותו וגאוניותו
מצריך קצת תרגול כדי להפעיל לחץ שווה בשני בצדדים כך שהקרש לא יסדק אבל בהחלט עובד
At my current company we are building clinic managment tools for psychologists, counslers and therapists. so I found myself attending several conventions and talking to a variety of people from the mental health industry.
One thing that was apparent from the very beginning is that there was a great need that these professionals have for help in managing their businesses, and even more so due to the lack of self confidence over their ability to run the business part of a successful private practice. (more…)
