באוטו החדש שלי הכפתורים היו בסדר שונה משאני רגיל והסימונים היו לא כל כך ברורים (בצד שמאל של התמונה)
אז הלוותי קצת מהלקים הצבעונים של הבת שלי וצבעתי את התבליט. עכשיו אני יכול לזהות כל כפתור, אפילו בלי משקפים…

DIY HF Antenna Analyzer
some time ago i got a nice deal on a buddipole antenna. I already had an alexloop which i was very happy with, but I could not resist the temptation of a “real” dipole that could take the full 100W from my rig. so i went online and ordered one.
after i got the package i went on and setup the rig and antenna, and it worked ok. but i wasn’t happy and wished for more… it took a lot of time to assemble and result were on par of the alexloop.
At the last hamvention i had a chance to talk to the buddipole engineers at their booth. the first question they had was “did you checked it with an antenna analyzer” ? “no”, i’ve replied. “so you should” they said. and it sounded like a solid advice. now i had a plan…

יצאנו מוקדם בבוקר דרומה והגענו לקיבוץ ניר עוז. בכניסה מצאנו שדה פתוח ופרקנו את כל הציוד. חיברתי מיכל מים עם המשקל המחושב לבלון ועוזרי הנאמנים ניפחו אותו בזמן שאני מחבר את המחשב והסוללות.

I’ve got plenty of Helium and i not afraid to use it !
it’s been long overdue. Our last high altitude balloon attempt was over 2 year ago. Since then i’ve been busy with other things, but been building my payload on the slow burner.
so last week I’ve decided to take advantage of the jewish holidays and the fact my daughter is on school vacation to give it another try.

תמיד רציתי לייזר. אני חושב שכל גיבור מרושע/מדען מטורף חייב אחד.
במיוחד רציתי לייזר שאפשר לחתוך איתו בעזרת המחשב. היו לי כמה נסיונות לפרק את הדיודה מכונני DVD אבל אף פעם לא הצלחתי לגרום לזה לעבוד.
לפני כמה זמן קראתי מאמר שנראה ממש פשוט וקל לביצוע. הלייזר עצמו לא בעוצמה מסחרית (500mw 405NM), אבל בהחלט יותר חזק מכל מה שניסיתי עד כה, וגם לא כזה יקר. אז הזמנתי וחיכיתי עד שהגיע. Continue reading לייזר

continuous blood glucose monitor are nothing short of a true wonder. for people with diabetic it is a enormous help in keeping their health. the continues knowledge of your blood sugar level is overwhelming even to those who’ve been constantly fighting the disease, and makes it easy to check trends and influences on your body.
Current devices takes a measurement every 15 minutes and store all that information. Then with a scan of the reader (or even your cellphone, if you’re willing to void warranty) it’s all downloaded and displayed.
Unfortunately, my wife got Type I diabetes, so she’s using the Freestyle Libre sensor. Each sensor works for 2 weeks and then disables itself, so it needs to be replaced.

משטחי הובלה מעץ הם מקור טוב לקרשים. האיכות שלהם נמוכה אבל אפשר למצוא אותם בחינם זרוקים באתרי בניה ואזורי תעשיה
הבעיה הגדולה שהם מחוברים לפעמים עם מסמרי ברזל גדולים שנתקעו עם רובה מסמרים והם תקועים עמוק. חוץ מזה שלפרק אותם עם פטיש זו התעמלות קשה
אז חיפשתי ביוטיוב איך להוציא את המסמרים בקלות, ולהפתעתי גיליתי שאני לא המוזר היחיד שעושה את זה. יש גם הרבה אנשים עם שיטות וכלים חשמלים לביצוע המשימה
ואז גיליתי את הסירטון הבא. מהמם בפשטותו וגאוניותו
מצריך קצת תרגול כדי להפעיל לחץ שווה בשני בצדדים כך שהקרש לא יסדק אבל בהחלט עובד
Hamvention 2017
I had an opportunity to visit the Hamvention in Dayton OH this year, so I jumped at the opportunity. to be honest I didn’t know what to expect. I had my fair share of professional trade shows in the US, and at a first glance, I fitted the description: booths with manufacturer displaying the latest and greatest, classes with top notch lectures and all those kind of things.

התרגום לעברית של sstv הוא טלוויזיה בסריקה אטית. אבל המונח מטעה קצת כי למעשה מדובר בתמונות קפואות (stills) ולא וידאו (moving pictures)
השם מתייחס בעיקר לטכנולוגיה ששימשה את הממציא, קופ מקדונלד, בסוף שנות החמישים במהלך פרויקט מעבדה בעקבות מאמר שקרא בזמן לימודיו באוניברסיטה. קופ לקח תמונה אלקטרונית שצולמה דרך מצלמת טלוויזיה והוריד את קצב קריאת הנתונים כך שמידע שלקח ערוץ של 6MHz שיתאים לערוץ ת”ג של 3kHz (כלומר פי 1/2000) וקלט אותם על מסכי מכ”ם מעודפי הצבא שהם בעלי קצב עדכון נמוך ושומרים את המידע המוצג עליהן למשך מספר שניות. אומנם היום אנחנו משתמשים במחשב האישי ובכרטיס הקול, אבל הרעיון המקורי נשאר זהה, ולכן אסביר קודם כל איך בנוי אות וידאו אנלוגי.
